Web Wednesdays in Sacramento Explores Internet Culture

By Patrick McGilvray

SACRAMENTO (OBSNews.com) – In downtown Sacramento on the last Wednesday of each month a group of business owners, technologists, and Internet lovers of all sorts gather to share knowledge, network with other like-minded folks, and celebrate the fine addition of Sacramento's newest Celtic watering hole near the Capitol, De'Vere's Irish Pub.

The group was created largely through the efforts of lifelong Sacramentan and man about town Sonny Mayugba, a self-described 'Superconnector', and Jenna Langer, a recent CSUS graduate who has worked with Mayugba on a variety of different projects.

The group of technophiles have a very loose organizational structure and some, ahem, unusual officer monikers. Let's just say you'll have to have a rich sense of humor to fit in with this bunch.

Recent conversations turned from Google Analytics and evolving standards of what is useful from a marketing perspective in cyberspace to the online pornography as a dubious leader in pioneering a variety of web-critical commerce applications. Also a key point of discussion is the future of media and how established media companies will be able to reinvent themselves and how their startup online media competitors are striving to find profitable means of creating and distributing content on the web.

If you are passionate about the Internet and live or work in the Sacramento email please send an email to news@obsnews.com for more information about subsequent meetings. Meetings normally held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.on the last Wednesday of the month.
