ROCKLIN, Calif., (OBSNews.com) - William Jessup University opened its doors this fall to their largest enrollment yet, revealing an incoming class of 194 students attending the Greater Sacramento region’s only private four-year, residential university. “Over the last 12-18 months, the recruitment and enrollment efforts of the entire University have accelerated,” said Vance Pascua, vice president of traditional undergraduate admission. “In light of the economy and the state budget cuts, we have made a concerted effort to find creative ways to ensure affordability and accessibility for students to choose Jessup.” Last January, the university announced it would decrease tuition by 2.5 percent, a benefit that the new student population has welcomed. The University also honors a new provision to the GI Bill called the Yellow Ribbon Program. The program allows any veteran who has served on active duty for at least 36 aggregate months since 9/11 to have the complete cost of tuition covered in any program the University offers. Approximately 91 of the incoming students are first time freshman with an average GPA of 3.38. Students come from as far east as North Carolina and Florida and west as far as Hawaii. Of the new students, 78 are student athletes joining the ranks of the substantial sports program the university continues to build.
