Presiding Sacramento Judge James Mize Named Judge of the Year

Sacramento Superior Court Presiding Judge James Mize has been unanimously selected as the 2009 Sacramento County Bar Association’s Judge of the Year

SACRAMENTO (OBSNews.com) - Judge James Mize was selected for this honor not only because he met the five criteria used for selecting the SCBA Judge of the Year, but for excelling at demonstrating service to the community. He is a founder of the Voluntary Legal Services Committee, which was a program of the SCBA to provide pro bono legal services to indigent clients, and Sharing God’s Bounty, a free meal program offered at St. Philomene’s Catholic Church.

Judge James Mize is the recipient of many community-based awards including the Center for Youth Citizenship’s 2008 Education & Community Outreach Award and the California Judge’s Association’s 2007 Alba Witkin Humanitarian Award.

The Sacramento County Bar Association’s Annual Bench/Bar Reception will be honoring Presiding Judge James Mize as Judge of the Year on Thursday, September 24, 2009.

Also being honored at the reception are the Sacramento Superior Court’s newly appointed judges.
