House Passes Solar Technology Roadmap Act WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-05) released the following statement after joining her colleagues in supporting H.R. 3585, the Solar Technology Roadmap Act: “I am honored to join with my fellow Representatives in the House today to illustrate our resolute commitment towards making America not only energy-independent, but the leading exporter of green technology. With passage today of this important legislation, we can ensure that America is on the path to economic recovery by bolstering the growth of new jobs here at home. In Sacramento, the Department of Energy recently released $4.3 million in federal grant funding to expand Sacramento’s use of solar energy and to support local businesses in our region who produce clean energy alternatives. Solar power is uniquely poised to offer us a reliable energy alternative to traditional sources, such as oil, because of its wide availability and reliance on technologies that can be quickly deployed in most any market. This legislation passed today will allow similar projects to continue pushing the United States – and Sacramento - forward as a world leader in research, development, and implementation of solar power.” Congresswoman Doris Matsui represents the 5th Congressional District in California.
