SACRAMENTO (OBSNews.com)— A Johnston Park playground that was destroyed by arsonists will once again be the setting for imaginative play by children who reside in north Sacramento. This Saturday, City staff, community members, the nonprofit organization Mutual Assistance Network of Del Paso Heights, and 75 volunteers from the Active 20-30 Club of Sacramento will build a new and much more impressive playground on the site of the former playground. “We were all saddened to hear that one of north Sacramento’s most popular playgrounds had been destroyed,” said Councilmember Sandy Sheedy. “That sadness will soon be replaced with genuine joy after the playground is rebuilt. I wish to thank all City staff, community members, organizations, and groups that are helping to rebuild this special playground for the children of this community.” The Johnston Park Playground Rebuild will take place this Saturday, March 13, between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Johnston Park is located at 231 Eleanor Avenue. |
