Britney slams into car but aces DUI test

Britney Spears leaves family court in October of 2007.

News flash! Britney Spears was sober when she got behind the wheel in Los Angeles.

The pop wreck passed an alcohol breath test after she got into a minor fender bender - and was released without being cited.

Cops said they followed normal procedures when they asked Brit to take a sobriety test after her Mercedes rear-ended another car in stop-and-go traffic on a suburban highway around 8:18 p.m. Saturday night.

The other car also rammed into a third vehicle, but there were no injuries and no damage to any of the cars, cops said.

Spears, who has made regular headlines with her alcohol-fueled antics, sat patiently in the driver’s seat as paparazzi swarmed around her snapping pictures.

After a few minutes, she climbed into the passenger seat, a video posted on the X17online.com Web site showed.

Spears was later taken to a local fire station, where the breath test was administered. Cops said they tested her because of the timing and circumstances of the crash, not Britney’s bad reputation.

The pop star was released and went out to dinner later that night at Dominick’s in West Hollywood with her mother, Lynne, OBSNews.com and People magazine reported. This time, a bodyguard drove.

There’s rarely any good news for Spears when she drives:

In 2006, she was snapped driving with her son on her lap, a violation of car-seat rules.

A misdemeanor hit-and-run charge from an August 2007 parking lot crash was dismissed after she paid an undisclosed amount to the car’s owner.

In October, she pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid driver’s license.
