Texas Timmy,

Of course 100% being in favor of the death penalty, stricter punishment of criminals, or at least getting something out of them like having them mow our lawns for sitting in jails decent working people have to pay for... I think some jerk off shoots at police and is in midst of crime and then flees!!!! WHY DID we not execute them on the spot? I don't care if they got beat, they deserve every last ounce of it and more. And their families, poor victims!! Give me a break and have the families repay what it took to have the cops apprehend these scum.

Baba Waa-Waa goes on the vacuous Oprah show to brag about an affair with a married man, then follows up with her little-girl tearjerker story of feeling sorry and guilty about how callously she treated her sister - shows how mentally challenged this idiot is and always has been, a mummified relic trying to gloss over an under-developed personality and lack of intelligence. She pathetically uses her sister's disabilities to promote herself as some sort of "repentant soul" to garner sympathy from the usual credulous and ignorant Oprah audience, while drawing attention to herself through this affair - all to sell a book, for god's sake. And to puff up a not-well-aging ego.

I wonder if Barbara checked with the Senator's ex-wife and family before she decided to take her part in committing infidelity and make it public? Something tells me she didn't, as she was more concerned with her personal Mea Culpa than respecting the right to privacy of others. I am sure his family and ex-wife appreciated either (a) publicly becoming aware of something they may not have known about, or (b) having an old, painful wound re-opened. As is always the case, there are always more than the two offending parties involved in a painful situation like this. Way to go, Barbara!!

Oh, it's religious persecution of the FLDS is it? How about those flagrant human rights violations, do they mean anything?

Last I checked women/girls had:

A right to an education (the FLDS routinely pulls children out of school as adolescents).

A right to decide if/when they had children (this may change if we get another Republican in office though).

A right to reach the age of 18 unmolested by 50 year old perverts (again this might change if we get another Republican in office).

The right to move freely and not be confined to a compound (again, this might change).

The right to dress and groom their hair however they choose.

A right to autonomy (subject to change).

I am outraged by the people who dare question the state of Texas for their endeavors so far on this issue. This has been going on for 70 years or better in Colorado City, Arizona and Utah. No one has cared or given it the slightest thought. Authorities have even gone so far as to return runaway girls to Colorado City. This is an absolute outrage and if it were happening to boys and not girls, something would have been done about it 70 years ago.

The public reacted violently when the priest abuse scandal broke and these same people could give a $hit less now that its happening to young girls. It truly speaks volumes of the way we view women and girls in this society.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just a cover for pedophilia. The "men" of this cult are nothing more than child rapists and deserve nothing less than prison, the same as any other child molester. They are simply using the term "religion" as a cover. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.

Out of the 53 girls 14 to 17, how many boys that same age are at the compound? All I keep hearing is that there are only kids, girls, women and men. How many teen age boys? It appears the young men leave.

Let me get this right. Warren Jeffs, the leader of this Cult was convicted almost a year ago yet, LOCAL OFFICIALS of this "ranch" were unaware underage children were being Harmed. There were also a few Adult Ladies who had news conferences stating the facts of the Abuse. Im still looking for the Husbands to show their faces but I guess they are on the run just like Warren Jeffs before his arrest in Navada.

What happened to all the older boys? They kick out the boys the young girls might be interested in so they can have them. These people have crossed the line between religious freedom and child abuse.

I know where this idea came from about needing many wives and lots of children to get into celestial heaven. The founder, in the 1830's, Joseph Smith said this was a revelation from God so he married at least 33 women - about 10 were married and a couple were under 15. This way he wouldn't be accused of adultery. His wife opposed it, but finally had to give up complaining. The followers totally trusted him, and so all the men started doing it. They even had to recruit women from England and other European countries.

This also rapidly populated the new settlements. When neighbors in the early Mormons Illinois community got wind of it, he was arrested. Some were really so mad they stormed the jail and shot him up. But "the Principal" as they called it, was continue by Brigham Young.
